The composer and pianist Gerd F. Schumann, born in Bonn, Germany, on 18th February 1956, is not only known as a creator of theatre music, but has also spent more than twenty years performing music on stage in a variety of theatre productions.
As composer of music for advertising, he worked with Wim Wenders in 2002, creating the soundtrack for the German director´s commercial "Havana Club Rum".
Gerd F. Schumann had his first piano lesson at the age of six.
A degree in music from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne University of Music and Dance) in the subjects piano, harpsichord, conducting and composition laid the foundation for his musical creations.
He also studied philosophy at the University of Cologne. His passion for musical theatre then led him to complete acting training at THEATER DER KELLER.
As a freelance composer, some of Gerd F. Schumann's most important clients include the Stern magazine in Hamburg, the broadcaster WDR in Cologne, Various Voices Berlin, Mitsubishi Electric Germany, Stonesoft Finland, EBD Interpartners Düsseldorf and the LÜBBE-Verlag publishing house.
He founded his own label, "SCHUMANN-MUSIC-GROUP-VERLAG", in 2006.
